My work deals with the natural environment and associated memories and connections.

Memories 2009Chantale_Delrue_small

The cloth or paper I use to make the works is imbued with dyes that I have extracted from leaves, bark and flowers from native trees. In the process of dyeing, the plant materials leave traces like memories of their life-blood. The sheets of paper or pieces of cloth are arranged into abstract assemblages, their marks informing the drawing or stitching. Stiches or marks of coloured pencils and pastels form meditations on paper.
