Andrew is a ceramicist of considerable experience, both within Australia and in Japan. He has worked with Shiga Shigeo in Sydney and then Les Blakeborough, followed by 2 years in a commercial pottery. In Japan he worked with Shimoaka Tatsuzo [a specialist in inlay] and Shimada Haruo, who is noted for his large jars made by the coil throw method. Andrew's work is highly sought after, and he has sold both in Australian galleries and internationally.
He says this about his work:
"I draw my inspiration from nature and other art and craft work made by people who live naturally in harmony with their environment, in hope to find a balance in my life which will in turn show in my work... I strive for perfection of craftsmanship to the point I need not be conscious of my hands, but let the clay flow naturally. I continue to develop the eye and the spirit to achieve harmony and balance."
